Going Forward
Today I removed the rearview mirror from my van.
It’s been dangling there taunting me for too long.
Have you ever baked a cake,
and forgot to add the eggs,
or added too much water?
And found it cracked
when you pulled it from the oven?
And tried to paste it back
together with frosting?
And the more you tried
to fix it, the more it would crumble?
Yeah, it’s never going to look
like it belongs in Martha Stewart's Living.
There is no going back.
Eggs can’t be added to a baked cake.
Remove the mirror.
Eat the cake.
Drive on.
