Blossom Sweetly

A Channel of Sweet Blossoming

Spirit fingers spiral up
towards the divine
vision of eternity,
as foot roots weave deep,
grounding into this present
moment of unfolding.
In this now, I
become a channel
of divine love blossoming
sweet petals
cradling the seeds
of awkening.

Sketch and Poem by

Since my teen years I have been a seeker. Initially, I was focused on working with the upper chakras, focusing on attaining enlightenment (whatever that was). I saw spiritual maturity as being able to raise my consciousness out of my body and connecting with the divine. For many years, I kept my focus here.

While I learned a great deal from practicing meditation, visioning, and various levels of seeing beyond my eyes, I realized I was still missing something. Slowly, I began to realize that "spiritual maturity" was not meant to be a selfish focus in order to transcend worldly existence. Slowly, I began to awaken to the importance and sacredness of my humanity, and realize the  importance of grounding the wisdom and freedom I was gaining into the earth plane.

Throughout my life I have had to work to "stay in my body." I know some of you know what I mean, but for some the body is a very natural place to exist. I tend to gravitate to my head; grounding into my body takes work and focus.

What does grounding look like to me? It means taking actions, connecting with others, using my body in exercise, gardening, yoga. It means painting out my visions. I have found that grounding is vital to a balanced existence. It is from this place of groundedness that we are able to reach out more fully into our visions, bringing those visions back into the physical as gifts to the world.

I know little about buddhism, but for some reason this reminds me of the bodhisattva who strives for enlightenment, but remains in the earth plane in order that all sentient beings will find enlightenment. Do not misunderstand me; I am not claiming that level wisdom, but I am claiming the compassion to live fully for the good of all humanity.

Similar to the bodhisattva ideal,  I stretch towards the divine in order to gain visions and direction, while simultaneously maintaining and translating my realizations into tangible realizations. I surrender to being a channel. Sometimes I struggle, and slam head first into the concrete crying and wrestling with my self. Sometimes I get lost in the ether. I continue to practice.

And regardless of my "failures" or "successes," by maintaining an intention of being a translating channel between visions and actions, I manifest my highest calling: living fully. And this is the place where I blossom sweetly.

One Seed, One Sister, One Circle

In a culture where competition is the modus operandi, it is not surprising that women's relationships have been poisoned to a point where initial introductions are shrouded in feelings ranging from guardedness to full-blown suspicion. And why do we, as women, do this? Protection. We want to assess the level of competition this relationship will require.

From my experience, those who are the least trust-worthy, are not so because they are simply evil, or inherently selfish people, it is that, they too, are trying to protect themselves; they have slipped into the false belief that the best way to win is to play offensively. These same people are some of the most fearful. And while these are people we may find ourselves avoiding, or even despising, these are women who need love.

Fear is a nasty, sticky, black emotion, that flattens our lives, and dulls the hues of  a joyful life. Women who fear other women, do so because they feel they are deficient in some way, or that they will need to compete because there is not enough goodness to go around. In truth, every woman is unique and valuable, and the universe is abundant with blessings for each and every one of us on this beautiful planet.

These patterns of competition and protection begin when women are very young, and they do not change by simply wishing them away.

Through intentional sister circles, women can begin to feel the safety that comes when they are supported by other women. By allowing ourselves to be loved, we learn to love ourselves more deeply.

Teaching the value of intentional circles to young women, and girls, can transform the future dynamics of sisterhood to a point where women can rise up further than they every have before, empowered to share their unique gifts deriving from the feminine principle, because they are supporting one another in being their most radiant, powerful, and successful selves.

We all deserve to shine. We all deserve to be loved and supported. We all deserve to be free.

Plant one seed. Watch it grow.

Plant many, and watch a forest sprout forth from the concrete.

We are the seedkeepers. We have the power to transform the story of this culture, of this world. One sister at a time. One circle at a time.

May you know the joy of being surrounded and supported by a group of sisters.

Wishing you all goodness,
Suzette
